Ellipses is a publication made by the Magazine Writing and Editing students of the Associate Degree in Professional Writing and Editing at RMIT University.

Our Mission

With the focus being on providing fresh content, relevant to all who are immersed within and care for the creative community, Ellipses is a monthly print publication with multiple special issues per year.

Curated by our established writers, editors and designers, Ellipses showcase insightful feature articles, reviews and profiles tucked behind our immersive print pages. Our online articles showcase snippets of work that is featured in the latest print edition of Ellipses Magazine, in hopes you will pick up your very own copy at the RMIT Student Union in Building 8.

Meet The Team

Nompumelelo Mpehle

Online Managing Editor

As a poet, Nompumelelo Mpehle explores down-to-earth topics like politics, culture and nature. As a prose writer, she spins wild tales of fantasy and science fiction. She tweets sometimes at @NompumeleloMpe1.

Liam Trickey

Social Media Manager

Liam Trickey is a freelance copywriter and storyteller. By day, he helps brands that give back to the community, and by night he writes fiction that discusses the big questions. Maisie Mateos

Website Architect

Maisie Mateos is an emerging writer and editor, who delves into feature article writing and poetry. She currently works with her writer's workshop to indulge in the editing side and inclusiveness of the literary community. Maisie now dedicates her time to writing for her up-and-coming anthology, soon to be published.

Jay Viola

Podcast Producer

Jay Viola is a singer, song writer, streamer, YA author and radio personality at SYN 90.7FM. He’s currently working with his best friend of many years to develop a video game called Response Ability, where he works as lead writer, editor, and sound designer.

Cailtin Goh

Online Copyeditor

Caitlin Goh is a freelance writer and editor. She has placed in several international screenplay competitions, including winning the Silver Award at the Independent Shorts Awards in Los Angeles, May 2022. Lindy Ralph

Print Managing Editor

Lindy Ralph is a freelance writer and editor. She writes revealing non-fiction and has had work published on Mamamia and Gippslandia. Lindy loves scouring Melbourne’s back streets to find high quality cheap eats to share on her Instagram, @melbfoodexplorer. She can be found at lindyralph.com.au.

Eric Butler

Print Creative Director

Eric Butler is a poet and musician from Naarm. Their writing focuses on queerness, disconnect and popular culture. Eric has worked as editor of Plaything Magazine and is a Voiceworks editorial committee alum. They can be found walking down Sydney Road, pouting into the middle distance.

Kathryn James

Features Editor

Kathryn James is an emerging writer and editor, stretching out a part-time PWE degree for as many years as she can while working in international development. She writes about community, parenting and the little things that change us, and loves proofreading more than seems healthy. She tweets as @thejamsnarky.

Emma Hearnes

Profile Editor

Emma Hearnes called herself an artist until all her artworks became poems and she enrolled in PWE. Now she is an artist, a poet, a creative non-fiction writer and an editor – currently completing an editorial internship at Gippslandia magazine. Review Editor

Emily Foundalis is an emerging editor with a passion for applying (and sometimes intentionally breaking) grammar rules. When writing, she prefers fantasy and short fiction. Cai Bardsley

Subeditor

Cai Bardsley is a freelance editor and writer working on Wurundjeri land. They are a total grammar nerd and the 2022–2023 student advisor at Editors Victoria. Cai writes fiction and non-fiction in the form of articles, music journalism pieces and book reviews. Find them at caibardsley.com.

Jasmine Ball

Subeditor

Jasmine Ball is a bookseller, freelance editor and emerging writer working from Merri-Bek land. She writes fiction for her coming-of-age novel and non-fiction such as profiles and posts book reviews on her Instagram @jazz_claire1. She wants to be a participant in paving a way for wlw writers to emerge and contribute to voices shared.

Greta Ryan

Print Designer

Greta Ryan is a writer and poet. She writes romantic comedy, contemporary fiction, non-fiction and poetry. Greta’s work explores the themes of body neutrality, family and our relationship with the online world. She believes everything would look better covered in glitter.

Tess Fletcher

Print Designer

Tess Fletcher is a creative non-fiction writer, blogger and poet. In the non-fiction realm her work explores themes of identity, feminism and feelings of millennial melancholy. Her poetry, written under the alter ego @notverypoetic_ is currently preoccupied with love, loss and limerence. She can be found at notverypoetic.com.

Kayla Sinclair

Print Designer

Kayla is part of the Ellipses' design team. Her interests involve summertime, making art and reading books. Her dream is to work as a proofreader and have at least one poetry book published. She spends her downtime re-watching Gilmore Girls with her ginger tabby, Topher.
